How Long It Takes to Reach Lithuania From Zaporizhzhia, Kyiv, Dnipro — the Route

Published 11 June 2026 · AlexTransfer

How long it takes to reach Lithuania: the short answer

Short answer: usually a day to a day and a half. The trip from Zaporizhzhia to Lithuania by minibus takes roughly 24–30 hours, depending on the border queues. From Kyiv it's faster: the city is closer to the Polish border, so the route is shorter.

It's impossible to name an exact time in advance — the main factor is the border, and it's unpredictable. Below we break the route into stages so you understand what the trip consists of and what to realistically expect.

The Zaporizhzhia — Lithuania route: four stages of the trip

The first stage is Ukraine. The AlexTransfer minibus picks up passengers straight from home, so there's no need to get to a station with suitcases. Then it's the road west on Ukrainian highways, toward the Polish border.

The second stage is crossing the border with Poland. This is the least predictable part of the route: sometimes it takes a couple of hours, sometimes you have to wait longer in the queue.

The third stage is transit through Poland, without long stops. And the fourth is Lithuania: the trips go through Kaunas and Vilnius, with Šiauliai or Klaipėda as final stops. So if you're wondering how to get from Kyiv to Vilnius or Kaunas, just confirm a convenient drop-off point with the dispatcher.

The final touch: the driver delivers every passenger to the door at the address you specify.

What affects travel time

The main factor is the border queues. How many cars are ahead of you and how fast the checkpoint works — neither the carrier nor the passengers have any control over that.

The rest of the route is fairly stable: the minibus travels without overnight stops or long layovers, only short breaks to rest.

So the honest answer to "how long does it take to reach Lithuania" is: usually a day to a day and a half, depending on the border queues. If you have a connection or a meeting waiting for you in Lithuania, build in some extra time.

Two drivers: why the trip runs without overnight stops

Every AlexTransfer trip has two drivers on board. They take turns at the wheel, so the minibus keeps moving day and night, without stopping at hotels.

For passengers, this means the trip doesn't stretch into an extra day and there are no overnight accommodation costs. You get on board and ride straight to your destination.

The cabin has Wi-Fi, a TV with movies, tea and coffee, and phone chargers. Our fleet includes Mercedes Sprinter minibuses, as well as Opel Movano, Renault Master and VW Crafter.

What to bring on the trip

Most important: a biometric passport. Ukrainian citizens don't need a visa to enter Lithuania — visa-free travel applies for up to 90 days.

You can carry cash without declaring it — up to €10,000 per person. Be careful with food: meat and dairy products cannot be brought into the EU (the exception is baby food, up to 2 kg). So it's best to finish any sausage sandwiches before the border.

Bring medication for personal use; potent medications require a prescription. Rules change from time to time — check with the dispatcher before your trip.

  • Biometric passport
